Sopore, Sep 30 (KNO): Sanctorum School emerged champions of the Under-17 Girls Premier League cricket tournament after edging out Government Boys High School Chankhan by a narrow margin of just two runs in a nail-biting finale played here on Monday.
The inter-school tournament, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) was organised by Terrific Trio Trust, began on September 22, featuring eight school teams competing on a knockout basis.
The week-long event showcased budding female cricket talent from the region, drawing enthusiastic participation and local support.
The final clash kept spectators on edge till the very last ball as Sanctorum held their nerve to secure the coveted trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, Terrific Trio Trust Manager Imbisat Abdullah said the tournament was aimed at promoting gender equality in sports and motivating young girls to pursue their passion for cricket.
Similarly, Musarat Kar, former Municipal president while praising the efforts said, “Women’s health is as important as sports, and both must go hand in hand for a healthier, stronger future".
The winners and runners-up were felicitated with trophies and medals amid loud cheers from students, sports enthusiasts and dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Sopore S.A. Raina, SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir, former president of Municipal Council Sopore Musarat Kar and others—(KNO)
